Their story. Their CatID. Your own cat belongs here, too. Create a CatID for your cat and start their visual history. At home or out in the world, CatHunter is built around the individual. Your Scans help build a larger recognition database. Our ambition is for CatID to connect people and care around the same cat, wherever their story goes next. Cats first. Always. ## A collection of cats. Never a map to them. You discover cats in the real world. CatHunter does not publish where to find them. Let cats come and go freely, and Scan without disturbing them. A few things, human. ## Good questions. The cats declined to answer. We will. ### What exactly is a CatID? A CatID is a cat’s lasting identity and profile in CatHunter. It connects Scans and saved Photos to the same individual, so their history can grow over time. ### Am I taking photos? You perform a continuous Scan. Point your camera at the cat’s face and follow the guidance. CatHunter automatically saves Photos as frames from the Scan. ### What if CatHunter doesn’t recognize the cat? You may be asked to review possible matches, Scan again or create a CatID for a New cat. Movement, low light or a difficult angle can make recognition harder. ### Do I need to own a cat? No. You can Scan the cats you meet, whether they’re owned or Community cats. CatHunter is also for owners who want to create a CatID for their own cat. ### What is a Guardian? A Guardian regularly cares for a Community cat. Guardian status is earned after at least five Scans of the same cat on different days. It does not mean ownership. ### How do I get the app? CatHunter is in closed beta. You can complete the existing early-access application to be considered for a future invitation. Availability and invitations depend on the rollout. ## Make your next “hello” a CatID.
